San Marino
We played on the beach in Rimini, Italy, before heading up to San Marino. We even found shells!

Giovanni played with a big stick. Behind him is a row of bath houses where you pay to gain entrance to the beach. Fortunately, it was off-season, so they were all closed.
Behind Darin is San Marino, the oldest constitutional republic in the world still in existence today. It was founded in A.D. 301 by a Christian stonemason fleeing religious persecution. It was never conquered because it sits atop a high mountain.
View from San Marino. We rode a cable car to get to the top.
